The modern version of the legendary foot pump retains the beautiful aesthetics of the original, but improves its design in several aspects. The pressure gauge has been updated to a much higher accuracy (+/- 3%) compared to the original (+/- 5%), and a reinforcement has been added to the base to protect the gauge from impacts. The current handle is a reincarnation of the original 1962 Bakelite handle, with two grooves to accommodate the hose, allowing the pump to be stored flat in a car trunk or drawer. The Silca team specified ash wood for this handle due to its incredible hardness and stability, which allows it to be CNC machined. An all-metal construction ensures flawless performance and reliability for a lifetime. The steel body and piston improve upon previous designs in quality and durability, adding linear motion bearings for maximum smoothness, while the slightly enlarged base ensures better stability without sacrificing portability.
